AIGA Professional Development Credits
Through the support of AIGA event speakers, as well as that of its members, AIGA is able to provide professional development credits for individuals in need. Recipients will be selected quarterly by a random drawing conducted by the AIGA national office. Credits may be applied to AIGA membership, events, certificates, or other eligible professional development offerings.

Thank you to our generous speakers for supporting this effort.
Speakers at AIGA conferences and events in 2021 were given the option to waive their honoraria and allocate it towards AIGA professional development and events credits. Because of their support, AIGA is able to offer 30 credits awards ($400 each) in 2022.
This opportunity is available to unemployed and under-employed designers, as well as to those who identify as a member of an underrepresented group*. AIGA members and nonmembers are eligible to apply for AIGA Professional Development Credits.
Three questions will be asked as part of the application:
- Are you an AIGA member? (Yes, No, Not sure)
- Are you unemployed or underemployed? (Yes, No)
- Are you a member of an underrepresented group (Yes, No)
Applicants who answer yes to question 2 or 3 will be eligible for the quarterly drawing.
Anyone can apply, but certain restrictions apply to how Credits may be used. Please see Notifications and Terms and Conditions for details.
*AIGA considers race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, ability and disability, age, and other factors (e.g., military status) that shape creative perspective and professional experience.
Applications will be reviewed on a quarterly basis for eligibility, and recipients will be selected by a random drawing. Recipients of the AIGA Professional Development Credits will be notified by the AIGA national office shortly after each drawing.
Timeline for quarterly drawings:
- April 1, 2022: First drawing (pool of applicants from January-March)
- July 1, 2022: Second drawing (pool of applicants from April-June)
- October 1, 2022: Third drawing (pool of applicants from July-September)
- January 1, 2023: Fourth drawing (pool of applicants from October-December)
See Terms and Conditions for details.
Applicants may only apply once per calendar year.
Due to timing of the first drawing, the 2022 AIGA Design Leadership + Advocacy Conference will not be a part of this year's offerings.
Credits from the AIGA national office expire one year from the date they are awarded and are not transferable to AIGA local chapter programs and events.
Nonmember recipients must use a portion of their AIGA Professional Development Credits toward an AIGA membership before they are eligible to purchase an AIGA event registration or other professional development offering.
No travel grants will be awarded for in-person events. Credits must be used towards the cost of admission. An individual can choose how to best apply their credit to their circumstances; AIGA offers multiple pathways for engagement, including virtual events, virtual learning, and in-person events.
Credits may not be applied to AIGA national design competitions or AIGA Business Perspectives for Creative Leaders executive education.
